Ministry of Oil indicated a defect that caused the suspension of work at Khor Al Amaya Oil Terminal in Basra, while setting a possible date for resumption.
“There is no problem in Khor Al Amaya Oil Terminal and it is ready to work. The defect lies in the transporting and exporting pipeline, as its operational life is due," said the Assistant Director-General of Basra Oil Company for Plans and Budgets, Ahmed Fadel Dehiem, to the Iraqi News Agency – INA.
He pointed at having a contract with a company to “inspect the pipe and repair the exact fault location only,”
Dahiem explained that, "If it becomes clear that it is possible to benefit from the pipeline, it will be completely repaired as a second stage," expecting that the return of work in the port will be at the end of 2022.
"The contract to complete the third pipeline, which also feeds Khor Al Amaya Oil Terminal is currently being finished and the pipeline may enter work at the end of 2023," he included, stressing that "this pipeline will increase the capacity of the port,"
