Ministry of Transport - MOT announced on Saturday, that an earthquake with a magnitude of 4 rattled the southeast of Kalar district, Sulaymaniyah.
"The seismic observatories in the General Authority for Meteorology and Seismic Monitoring recorded an earthquake in the Sulaymaniyah Governorate," stated the ministry in a statement received by the Iraqi News Agency - INA.
The statement included that "the tremor was recorded at exactly 10:00:20 pm, local time. It reached 4 degrees, 12 km southeast of Kalar district, Sulaymaniyah.
The earthquake was felt by the citizens in the region, as the Ministry called on the citizens to take precautions as to stay away from rumors and false news in addition to abide by the seismic recommendations issued by the General Authority for Meteorology and Seismic Monitoring,"
