Nineveh Governor Najm al-Jubouri confirmed Friday that Prime Minister Mustafa al-Kazemi has given the green light to begin the rehabilitation of Mosul Airport, while he counted the number of projects implemented in the province.

Al-Jubouri told the Iraqi News Agency (INA): "The projects that are being worked on now are the municipal building, which consists of more than 12 floors in the city center in addition to the electricity department, the train station and the Wednesday market," noting that "the work on these projects are still ongoing.

He added that "the two projects of the Communications Department and the National ID Card will be referred for implementation," noting that "many official departments have been built from the province's allocations, as well as the construction of more than 7 hospitals inside and outside Mosul, some of which have been completed and others are underway."

He continued, "The governorate's ambition is to start with Mosul Airport after obtaining the approval of the Prime Minister, who gave the green light to rehabilitate the airport," explaining that "the districts and sub-districts are served by more than 80%, and they will be serviced by 100%, through the frozen funds and the year 2022 plan.”

He stressed that "the road between Nineveh and the governorates of Erbil and Dohuk has been rehabilitated, while the road with Baghdad has remained a distance that the Ministry of Housing is working on between Mosul and the Qayyarah area, i.e. about 50 km, and thus the road will be complete."

He stated that "the five entrances to the city, some of them are nearing completion, and some of them will be completed within three months," noting that "Al-Quwair Bridge is now nearing completion which is the longest bridge in Iraq with more than one and a half kilometres, as for the new Salamiyah Bridge which was recently developed south of the city of Mosul, work is underway and the percentage of completion has exceeded 50%.

He explained that "the fifth bridge is being worked on by an Egyptian company, and the fourth bridge is being worked on by a Turkish company," noting that "there are many projects in districts and villages, including the construction of more than 320 schools during this year."

he indicated that "more than 92 schools will be built in the province within the Chinese loan, and we hope with the second Chinese loan to build many schools," noting that "other school buildings have been added within the province's plans."
