Deputy Secretary-General of the United Nations for Political Affairs Rosemary Di Carlo called on Russia and Ukraine to continue negotiations on an immediate ceasefire in Ukraine.
She said during a meeting of the UN Security Council on biological laboratories in Ukraine: "We took into account the three rounds of negotiations that took place between representatives of Ukraine and Russia and call for the intensification of these efforts, including working to reach agreements in the humanitarian field and a ceasefire as a priority. ".
"We call on the parties to intensify contacts similar to yesterday's meeting between the foreign ministers of Ukraine and Russia in Antalya, Turkey, and the logic of dialogue and diplomacy must prevail over the logic of war."
"The work of humanitarian corridors in Ukraine must continue," she said.
In addition to that, Di Carlo noted that "on March 9, more than 51,000 people were evacuated through 5 agreed corridors... This practice of opening humanitarian corridors must continue.".
Furthermore,Di Carlo stressed "the need to inform civilians in an appropriate and timely manner of the possibility of leaving the aforementioned territories on a voluntary basis in the direction of their choice."
