Biden announces ban on Russian energy imports

US President Joe Biden announced on Tuesday, a formal ban on all imports of Russian oil and gas.
"Our decision to ban all Russian oil imports was made in consultation with our allies," Biden said.
He added, "We are imposing the most influential package of sanctions in the world, which has pushed the Russian economy back," noting that "our decision to ban Russian oil and gas imports will not be without cost in the United States."
"We want to protect the global energy supply and support American families," he said.
