Iraq's representative to the Security Council, Muhammad Bahr Al-Ulum, affirmed today, Thursday, that terrorism will not be allowed to stand in the way of the government's plans and efforts.

Bahr Al-Ulum said in the council session on Iraq and followed by the Iraqi News Agency (INA), that "the Federal Court ratified the results of the 2021 elections, and testified that the decisions of the Board of Commissioners were correct and issued its decision on the constitutionality of the first session of the new parliament, which led to the election of the Speaker and his two deputies."

In a second file, he stressed that "Iraq repeats its calls not to use its lands as an arena for fighting, settling accounts and for political purposes, under the pretext of combating terrorism, which endangers its security.".

He added, "We will not allow terrorism to stand in the way of the government's plans and efforts in the areas of development and strengthening security, stability and peace in society," calling on "all international parties to combat the threat of terrorist gangs.".

With regard to Iraqi-Kuwaiti relations, Bahr Al-Ulum explained, "We paid Kuwait the full $52.4 billion in compensation as a result of the Saddamist invasion, and the international community recognized this in the last Security Council session.".

And he added, "Iraq is keen to turn the page of the past with Kuwait and attach special importance to the file of the missing."
