Security Media Cell announced Thursday the seizure of a number of different weapons during inspections in Maysan Governorate.
The cell said in a statement received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA): "Detachments from the governorate police in all their combat and procedural forms, in conjunction with a force from the Special Forces Brigade and the Rapid Response Brigade of the Ministry of Interior, in addition to the intelligence services, began this morning to search a number of areas in the city of Al-Amaraha.
It added that "a group of various rifles, grenades, ammunition and other materials were seized," noting that "the seizures were referred to the competent authorities."
SMC stressed, "The security forces will strike with an iron fist anyone who tries to harm the security and stability of the province."
