INA – BAGHDAD The candidate for presidency by Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (PUK), Barham Salih denied withdrawing the candidature after his meeting with Masoud Barzani. “I have discussed this matter with Barzani in Erbil and I explained the reason of holding on to the presidential candidacy for it is a full right for PUK,” Salih stated earlier on Friday. He also asserted that he is largely accepted and supported by other PUK members and political blocs, adding “I have been welcomed as a candidate for the presidency and others are convinced by my political and governmental experience as well as the tight relations with other components,” Salih focused on his intention to hold on to the candidacy to “serve Iraq from Duhuk to Basra” “The presidency can’t be defined to the Kurdistan blocs exclusively especially, under the abnormal political situations in KRG and unsolved disputes,” he added.
