The First Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Hakim Al-Zamili, called for developing realistic solutions to address the causes of high prices and hold manipulators accountable.
The media office of the First Deputy said in a statement received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA), that "Al-Zamili called on Prime Minister Mustafa Al-Kadhimi to take urgent action to find out the reasons for the significant rise in flour prices, and its direct effect on the purchasing power and living situation of people with low incomes."
In an official letter directed to the government, Al-Zamili called for "developing realistic and thoughtful solutions to address the causes of price hikes by urging the Federal Ministry of Trade to modify the mechanism and streamline the grain's arrival at the mills," referring to the distribution of the ration every month instead of (45) days."
Al-Zamili stressed the importance of directing the authorities concerned with economic and food security to investigate the reasons for the rise in prices and to hold the manipulators and negligent accountable.
