Agriculture Ministry sets 4 key goals of FAO conference

    The Ministry of Agriculture set on Sunday four key goals of the Fao conference scheduled for tomorrow and the day after tomorrow in Baghdad, announcing the reopening of the WFP office in the capital.
    "The FAO conference to be held in Baghdad tomorrow and the day after tomorrow will be sponsored by Prime Minister Mustafa al-Kadhimi and Agriculture Minister Mohammed al-Khafaji with the participation of Iraq, as a member of FAO and nearly 30 countries," Deputy Minister of Agriculture Mehdi al-Qaisi told the Iraqi News Agency (INA).
     
    "The conference is held every two years under the name of the Near East and North Africa Regional Conference," he said, adding that "the 36th conference in Baghdad is a victory for Iraq's diplomacy and the importance of its role in the international organization."
     
    "The main goals of the conference and its importance will be 4 topics, including the exchange of experiences and the discussion of the file of climate change, the water crisis with neighboring countries, and the rainfall, as well as future perceptions of how to address the food file, its availability and sustainability," he said, adding that "the shared experiences will combine for the purpose of upgrading the agricultural sector in Iraq and regional countries in general."
     
    "The Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) has reopened its office in Baghdad, indicating that Iraq has an importance weight in FAO," he said.
     
    Haidar Majid, spokesman for the General Secretariat of the Cabinet, told Iraqi News Agency (INA) that "As part of the plan drawn up by the ministries of agriculture and water resources of the conference, there will be a discussion on the issue of Iraq's water quotas and will open side discussions on this issue, especially with regard to the outstanding problems in the water file, and the Ministry of Resources has reached advanced stages to resolve these problems with the Turkish side."
