Iraqi-Saudi agreement on continuous political, security, military cooperation

    Iraq and Saudi Arabia agreed on continues cooperation and coordination on political, security and military issues.
     
    "The political, security and military committee emanating from the Iraqi-Saudi Coordination Council, held its third meeting on Sunday, as the Iraqi side was chaired by Foreign Minister Fouad Hussein, and for the Saudi side, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, Amir Faisal bin Farhan as the meeting was held via video conferencing in the presence of the members of the committee,” according to Ministry of Foreign Affairs statement received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA).
     
    The statement added, "The two sides discussed the issues on the committee's agenda, in a way that enhances the development of joint cooperation between the two countries in various fields,"
     
    Both agreed on “continuing cooperation and coordination in political, security and military issues, working to develop a common vision for the most important issues of concern to the two countries and in various fields, facilitating procedures for granting entry visas to businessmen in both countries, consulting and coordinating with regard to mutual support in international forums, and strengthening Security and intelligence cooperation with regard to combating crime and smuggling,”
     
    The committee also agreed to expedite the signing of a security memorandum of understanding between the ministries of interior in both countries, to cooperate in the military fields by holding joint exercises within the framework of a memorandum of understanding concluded between the two countries in the military field, and to exchange training courses and experiences in the field of studies and strategic planning, as to continue supporting the efforts of Iraq in cooperation with the international coalition to combat the terrorist organization of Daesh.
     
    The statement included, "At the end of the meeting, the two sides agreed to continue cooperation and coordination in various fields, exchange visits, and continue holding the committee emanating from the council, in a way that enhances bilateral cooperation and achieves the aspirations of the leadership and peoples of the two countries,"
