New joint security operation launched in Nineveh

The Popular Mobilization Authority (PMF) announced today, Monday, the launch of a joint security operation on the island of Nineveh.

PMF said in a statement, received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA), that "A joint force of Brigade 44, with the support of the Directorates of Armor Fighting, Military Engineering and Combating Explosives and Artillery at the PMF and a force from the Iraqi army, with air support from the army's aviation and the Air Force - carried out a security operation in the island of Nineveh ".

He added that "The operation was preceded by heavy bombardment of (F16) aircraft on ISIS hideouts in the island of Hatra, southwest of Nineveh," noting that "the units are still continuing their progress to achieve the goals set for this operation."
