Iraqi chess federation announced on Monday, hosting Arab Chess Age Groups’ Championship for male and female on next march 9th, which will continue for nine days.
The head of Iraqi chess federation, Dhafer Abdel Amir said in a statement to Al-Sabah newspaper, followed by the Iraqi news agency (INA), that “The federation sent invitation to all the teams belonging to the Arab Federation , aiming that all the preparations will start next week through the preparation of hotels and visas and choosing the arbitration and technical committees, affirming that the federation addressed the Ministry of Youth for the purpose of providing financial support, and we are waiting in the coming days to obtain approvals.”
Abdel Amir also added that the federation is keen to reflect a positive image of Baghdad, and its ability to host such important Arab tournament, since it’s the first Arab championship that will held in Baghdad since 2003.”
