
INA-Baghdad Iraqi Customs State Commission thwarted, on Tuesday, an attempt by a foreigner passenger to smuggle 5 kilos of drugs (heroin) into Iraq via Shalamchech border crossing in Basra province. In his statement to INA, Mr. Jaffar Qamar, Information Director at the Commission at (K9) customs centre, said that the Custom police and Shalamchech detachment arrested the passenger, adding that this operation comes within a strict inspection procedures to foil all smuggling attempts and thwart attempts against the national security.
