The head of the Kirkuk appeal Court, Qassem Mohammad Salman, confirmed today, Thursday that terrorism and drugs are at the forefront of cases in the courts.
Salman said in a statement published by the Supreme Judicial Council (SJC) and received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA), that "The most important cases that the Federal Appeals Presidency of Kirkuk accomplish are terrorism cases, We have the Kirkuk Court, which is now being investigated with terrorism cases (a central investigation) after these cases were being investigated in the courts of affiliated parties of this presidency,” noting that “its a new mechanism for the Presidency, which is being investigated by a competent and experienced investigating judges, that is currently staffed by three judges responsible for investigating terrorist crimes.”
He continued, "The case of drug possession and smuggling is one of the important issues that the Kirkuk investigation courts are considering, and it comes in second place after terrorism cases, and many sentences have also been issued regarding drug trafficking as well as the case of drug abuse by misdemeanor courts."
Regarding the Court of Integrity and Economic Crime, he mentioned that "many judgments were issued against employees and officials, and we have a misdemeanor and criminal court specialized in integrity cases."
