The Ministry of Culture, Tourism and Antiquities confirmed Wednesday that the manuscripts owned by Iraq represent the destination of researchers in the world, while noting that the establishment of the Manuscript department resumes Iraq's civilization path.

"The establishment of the Iraqi Manuscript department and the laying of the foundation stone is a sign of our ability to resume the civilization path that our ancestors began," Culture Minister Hassan Nazim said in a speech during prime minister Mustafa al-Kadhimi's laying of the foundation stone for the Iraqi Manuscript department, attended by an Iraqi News Agency reporter.

"Iraq has 47,000 manuscripts, which are the desalination of researchers around the world and from all over the world," Nazim said.

"The manuscripts have never received any support of their own, and this is where the important event comes in the presence of Prime Minister Mustafa Al-Kadhimi to lay the foundation stone for the manuscript department for its great importance," he said.
