McGurk confirms Washington's commitment to the outcomes of strategic framework with Iraq

    National Security Adviser Qasim Al-Araji, during his meeting with the US National Security Council Coordinator for the Middle East and North Africa, Brett McGurk, confirmed Washington's commitment to the outputs of the strategic framework with Iraq. 

    The media office of the National Security Adviser stated in a statement received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA), that "Al-Araji received in his office the Coordinator of the US National Security Council for the Middle East and North Africa, Brett McGurk, and his accompanying delegation, in the presence of the US ambassador in Baghdad, Mathew Tueller.  

    The statement added, "The meeting witnessed a review of the security and political situation in Iraq and the region, and the latest developments at the regional and international levels were discussed".  

    McGurk affirmed, according to the statement, the commitment of the United States of America to the outcomes of the strategic framework with Iraq, noting that his country, according to the agreement, will not use Iraq's sky, land and water as a launching pad to attack neighboring countries, reiterating his country's support to strengthen Iraqi capabilities in fight against terrorism.  

    He pointed out that "the United States of America does not pose any threat to any country, stressing that the common enemy is the terrorist organization Daesh," noting that "the strategic interest of the United States lies in a strong, sovereign Iraqi government and a strong Iraq.
