Iraq, Germany confirms consolidation joint cooperation

    The Ministry of Planning announced today, Tuesday, the arranging of consultative meetings between the Iraqi and German governments to consolidate joint cooperation between the two countries.
    A statement by the ministry, received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA), stated that "the Ministry of Planning organized the development advisory meetings between the Iraqi government and the German government, and headed the Iraqi side in these meetings, which come within the framework of strengthening joint cooperation between the two countries, the Undersecretary of the Ministry of Planning for Technical Affairs Maher Hammad Johan, on the German side, it was chaired by German Ambassador Peter Fulten, which was organized by the International Cooperation Department at the Ministry of Planning and in the presence of the Prime Minister’s advisor, Executive Director of the Reform Cell Alaa Abdul-Hussein Al-Saadi, and with the participation of the Ministries of Planning, Foreign Affairs, Finance, Migration and Displaced Persons, Health and the Ministry of Labor, Social Affairs, Housing, Municipalities and Public Works, and the participation of the Reconstruction Fund, the Integrity Commission, and the German International Cooperation Agency (GIZ)".
    The technical representative of the Ministry of Planning, Maher Hammad Johan, said, according to the statement, that "these advisory meetings came to enhance cooperation between the Iraqi and German sides."
    Johan praised the efforts of support provided by international organizations and bodies, especially German, "who made a lot of effort within the framework of the consultative meetings to reach a common working formula through which we can ensure that the implementation of projects proceeds without hindrances," noting that "these meetings are an advanced step to reach for common formula for cooperation between Iraq and Germany.
    And he indicated that "the meeting included discussing the office's agreement as well as the file of tax and customs exceptions and the position of current projects in the fields of electricity, education, industry and other important files, as well as discussing the priorities of reform in its second phase and reaching permanent solutions that guarantee the achievement of reform within the framework of the national development plan and the return of the displaced, as well as a plan next year 2022.
