The Ministry of Interior revealed today, Saturday, its actions against drug dealers and promoters, while confirming the arrest of 10,000 accused.
The Director of Relations and Information at the Ministry of Interior and head of the Security Media Cell, Major General Saad Maan, said in a statement to the Iraqi News Agency (INA): " Counter-narcotics is a great government effort, and the Ministry of Interior is the first in the matter because there is a specialized general directorate, which is the General Directorate for Combating Narcotics and Psychotropic Substances," noting that the directorate has many activities, and there are hundreds of activities during this year.
"During the past 10 months, MOI has been able to arrest nearly 10,000 suspects throughout Iraq at the level of drug abusers, promoters and traffickers, and this is a large number that indicates the activity carried out by the security services," stressing the need to combine all the efforts with the Ministry of Interior to combat this dangerous scourge in the society", Maan added.
Maan continued "The campaigns of MOI are ongoing and have plans in the near future that will have a clear impact and plans at the long-term level and that there will be a concerted government effort," noting that "drugs from abroad and the Border Authority in coordination with all the related security services are exerting their utmost efforts to thwart smuggling attempts."
