The Popular Mobilization Authority (PMA) announced Wednesday the launch of a joint security operation in the Al-Mutassim district south of Tikrit.
"The Salah al-Din Operations Command of the 3rd Regiment, Brigade 3 Federal Police and Salah al-Din Emergency carried out a security operation in al-Mutassim district south of Tikrit," PMA said in a statement received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA).
"The operation was launched today to search and clear the neighborhoods of the Hawija al-Sayawia in al-Mutassim district south of Tikrit and to survey and clear the neighborhoods, which are considered thorny areas and difficult terrain," the statement said, adding that "the operation aims to secure areas and protect civilians and security forces so that they are not exploited by terrorists."
