Spokesman for the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, Major General Yahya Rasool, announced on Wednesday, foiling a terrorist attack and arresting 6 others by Counter-Terrorism Service in the provinces of Anbar, Baghdad and Kirkuk.
"With the guidance of the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, the Counter-Terrorism Service was able to foil a terrorist attack in Heet, north of Ramadi, and arrested 5 of Daesh terorrist gangs and found a pack of weapons and equipment," said Rasool in a statement received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA).
He pointed out that "CTS launched their operations in Anbar province by setting up a tight ambush that had been in place for some time, during which our heroes were able to arrest 3 terrorists belonging to the remnants of Daesh gangs (among the five), as they were planning to carry out a terrorist attack inside the northern Heet district, Ramadi.
"After that, the brave of the homeland in CTS begin two qualitative operations, the first in Taji district, Baghdad. A terrorist affiliated with Daesh was arrested, and by his confessions, a pile of ammunition and weapons were found, including 81 mm mortar, and the second in Kirkuk governorate, which a terrorist element was overthrown," he added.
He noted that "CTS has the full ability to foil terrorist plans that target the security of the homeland and the citizen. Its operations are very accurate, and what is presented to citizens through the public media and social media, is a small part of our operations,"
