The General Secretariat of the Council of Ministers issued on Monday, new recommendations regarding the development and rehabilitation of Ur City.
A cabinet statement, received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA), stated that "The Secretary-General of the Council of Ministers, Hamid Naim Al-Ghazi, approved a number of new recommendations issued during the sixth session of the committee concerned with developing ideas and plans for the project to develop and rehabilitate the ancient city of Ur."
The statement added, "The recommendations included, that Dhi Qar governorate shall provide the General Secretariat of the Council of Ministers with statements that include the amount of special sums, to establish the infrastructure for the project within two days from the date of the session, and coordination between the governorate and the relevant committee, regarding the green belt of the tourist city of Ur, in cooperation with the Department of Municipalities of Dhi Qar Governorate.
The statement also continued, "The recommendations also assigned Ministry of Culture to expedite contracting with specialized companies to develop the ancient city, for the purpose of launching financial allocations after contracting."
