Al-Hakim: Rejecting the election results should not depart the peaceful framework

The Head of the National State Forces, Ammar al-Hakim, stressed today, Friday, the need for the protests rejecting the election results to not depart from their peaceful framework.

Al-Hakim said in a statement, received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA): "We are following with great concern the unfortunate events that took place in the approach of the Green Zone, while we call on the protesters and the security forces to exercise maximum restraint and to prevent the situation from being dragged into unimaginable consequences.".

Al-Hakim reiterated the necessity that the protests rejecting the election results should not depart from their peaceful framework, "while urging all parties to give priority to the supreme national interest in this sensitive circumstance.".

Al-Hakim called on the Independent High Electoral Commission and the judicial institution to seriously consider the appeals received and to bring justice to the objecting forces.
