Iraq to Saudi Arabia: We seek reducing tensions in the region

    Foreign Minister Fouad Hussein assured his Saudi counterpart Prince Faisal bin Farhan in Belgrade that Iraq would continue its efforts and initiatives aimed at reducing tensions in the region.

    Hussein met with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, Prince Faisal bin Farhan, in the Serbian capital Belgrade, on the sidelines of his participation in the meeting of the 60th anniversary of the First Conference of Non-Aligned Countries, according to a statement by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA).

    During the meeting, they discussed bilateral relations between the two brotherly countries, as well as political developments in the region.

    Hussein stressed, that Iraq will continue its efforts and initiatives aimed at reducing tensions in the region and normalizing relations between its countries.

    On the other hand, the Minister briefed on the progress of the electoral process that took place yesterday in Iraq, which proceeded in a safe and democratic manner, and the extent of its importance to the Iraqi people.

    For his part, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, Prince Faisal bin Farhan, affirmed the Kingdom's support for Iraq, wishing Iraq and its people progress and prosperity.
