The Ministry of Water Resources announced Monday that it has taken a series of decisions on the marshes, while noting the launch of a broad campaign to improve the water situation.

"In late September, the water levels become low and the lowest flow take place during this period," ministry spokesman Aouni Dhiab told The Iraqi News Agency (INA).

"A meeting was held with the Minister of Resources on the marshes and the re-securing of adequate water for them," he said, adding that "recent decisions have been made regarding providing larger quantities to the Hor Al-Hawiza area, especially since it is a region that is more vulnerable to drought than the rest of the region as a result of Iran cutting the Karkha River from the entire area, causing difficulty in securing water."

"Trespassing from farmers and fish breeders has also caused a lack of water levels," he said, adding that "the ministry has launched a large-scale campaign in this regard and the situation will improve in the coming days."
On June 20th, the Ministry of Water Resources announced the preparation of a strategic plan for the development of marsh areas for 25 years, while confirming the full provision of its water rations for the current year.
