The Supreme Security Committee for Elections confirmed, today, Friday that the special voting is taking place away from any pressures.
"The Chairman of the Supreme Security Committee for Elections in Iraq, Iraqi Staff Lt. Gen. Abd al-Amir al-Shammari, deputy commander of the Joint Operations Command and the Head of the Independent High Electoral Commission, are conducting a field tour of a number of private polling centers in the capital, Baghdad," said SMC in a statement, received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA).
Al-Shammari, according to the statement confirmed, that "the security forces are working to secure the electoral centers, as well as all those who participate in the special voting."
He continued, "Iraq today is witnessing free and transparent elections after the Supreme Security Committee for Elections in Iraq, in coordination with the Independent High Electoral Commission, was able to create the appropriate atmosphere for this democratic process, noting that" the vote is conducted in a neutral manner, away from any pressures."
It’s to be mentioned that, polling stations opened today, Friday for special voting at 7:00 a.m. Baghdad time in the first early parliamentary elections in the country since 2003.
