    INA - BAGHDAD

Ministry of Health and Environment revealed on Saturday, factors that contributed to the decline in the number of daily reported cases with the Corona virus, as confirming that the government measures prompted an increase in the number of the vaccinated in the last period.

The Ministry announced  that 4.807.179 people have taken the vaccine throughout Iraq.

"The percentage of those who received the vaccine has increased in recent weeks, and this is due to the great efforts of the Ministry of Health, as well as the implementation of the  government wide ranged plan to increase the amount of vaccines, and work in Fridays and official holidays, to keep the continuation of vaccinations in morning and evening shifts,” said Ministry spokesman Saif Al-Badr in a statement to Al-Iraqiya News Channel, which was followed by the Iraqi News Agency (INA).

He went on saying that "All these factors led to an increase in the number of Iraqis receiving the vaccine, which contributed to containing infections,”

"The ministry warns of the possibility of other epidemic waves, and this is a realistic scientific fact, despite the noticeable relative decrease in recorded cases, but the risk of new epidemic waves or cases of dangerous injuries still exists,” he noted.

He stressed, "We can bypass or reduce the risk of the epidemic and the possible next waves, via the vaccine,”

Al-Badr pointed out that "the arrival of vaccines to Iraq is ongoing, and we hope to achieve the required percentages before the end of this year," noting that "the ministry has achieved the interim percentages of Iraqis in taking vaccines, and we hope to continue this achievement and achieve the required percentages before the end of this year,”

He explained that "the nature of the epidemiological spread of the Corona virus through multiple epidemic waves, the intensity of which is according to the percentage of those committed to the deterministic measures of the vaccine, and this virus also has a greater ability to the possibility of genetic mutations and new strains, which may be more or less severe, and this reality we experienced during  the past two years,”

"We hope that the decrease in infections with the Corona virus will continue, but we must take into account any possibility, and take care of the demand for vaccinations,” he added.
