Baghdad Operations Commander Lt. Gen. Ahmed Salim announced Monday, the success of the security plan for the visit of Imam Hussein Arbaeen , while confirming the continued effort to return pilgrims to their areas within the capital.

"The Baghdad Operations Command has drawn up a security plan for the Arbaeen with the participation of all security, intelligence and supporting service agencies, which was successful after securing the full protection of thousands of Husseini processions and millions of pilgrims heading towards the holy city of Karbala," Salim said in a statement received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA).

"This year's plan was characterized by high flexibility in roads and securing pilgrims, which facilitated the movement of citizens inside the capital, Baghdad," he said.

"One of the reasons for the success of the plan is carrying out successful proactive operations according to accurate intelligence, which prevented terrorist groups from carrying out their objectives to target pilgrims," the Baghdad Operations Commander said.
