The governor of Dhi Qar Ahmed Al-Khafaji announced on Monday, the start of the rehabilitation steps of Nasiriyah airport, while noting the completion of the first phase of the development of the archaeological city of Ur
"Nasiriyah Airport has been referred to a Chinese company and is now in the process of completing the plans and examining the soil to start implementation," al-Khafaji told The Iraqi News Agency (INA).
"The Nasiriyah airport project is among the central contracts sponsored by the General Secretariat of the Cabinet, and was referred for $367 million, its budget is monitored, and work is under way according to the plan," he said.
On the subject of marshes, the Governor of Dhi Qar stressed that "the marshes are an important source of economic income for the province, as a distinctive tourist attraction, but the water crisis is central to the policies of Iraq's neighbors".
"There are central efforts to resolve these crises, and we are suffering from water scarcity in general, and water decline in them, which has negatively affected livestock and the status of marshes," he said, calling on the central government and the Ministry of Water Resources to "address this imbalance in water and the return of marshes to their natural habitats."
"The province has allocated a budget to build infrastructure in the Ur region, and now the first phase of rehabilitation of the archaeological city of Ur has been completed," he said.
