IHEC stresses on international observation to support integrity and transparency of elections

The Independent High Electoral Commission stressed the importance of international election monitoring in support integrity and transparency of elections.
A statement by the commission, stated that "the Chairman of Board Commissioners, Judge Jalil Adnan Khalaf, received at the commission's headquarters in Baghdad, the Japanese ambassador to Iraq, Kotaro Suzuki, to discuss its role in supporting the electoral process in Iraq through participation in international monitoring."
For his part, the Japanese ambassador expressed his country's desire to participate in monitoring the upcoming elections by sending a Japanese international monitoring team to contribute to achieving transparency and neutrality, reiterating Japan's keenness to maintain cooperation with Iraq, especially in the file of the upcoming elections.
