The Directorate of Civil Defense announced Saturday, that two fires in Baghdad have been extinguished.
"A fire broke out in weeds and waste inside the Equestrian Club in an area of (1,500) square meters," the Defense Directorate said in a statement received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA), noting that "Civil defense fire teams rushed to the scene to control the fire and remove the risk of spreading to residential homes adjacent to the accident."
The Directorate added that “Civil Defense teams ended the fire without recording casualties in addition to reduce their material damage," adding that "The cause of the fire was accidental as a result of an external fire source.”
In this concern, the statement continued that "Civil Defense teams extinguished another fire that affected a number of shops built of zinco plates which is violating the safety instructions issued by the Directorate of Civil Defense, in the Market of Al Hawa in Zafaraniyah area southeast of Baghdad.”
The statement pointed out that "Civil Defense teams surrounded and isolated the burning shops and prevented the fire from spreading to the shops adjacent to the scene and ended the fire without registering casualties while reducing its material damage."
"The Civil Defense has requested an investigation into the police station in charge of the geographical area based on the forensic expert's report to determine the causes of the fire at first," the statement added.
