Defense Minister Juma Inad Saadoun affirmed today, Sunday, that Afghanistan's military and geographical situation is completely different from that of Iraq.
A Defense Ministry statement received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA), said that "the Defense University for Higher Military Studies held a discussion seminar under the slogan (the future is our goal to avoid risks) about the US withdrawal from Afghanistan and its impact on the region.".
The statement added, "The symposium was attended by the Minister of Defense, the Army's Chief of Staff, the Assistant Chief of Staff for Operations, the Military Inspector General, and a number of senior officers and directors in the Ministry of Defense, and discussed the geopolitical repercussions and future options by professors specialized in the political and military side.".
The statement pointed out that "the Minister of Defense stressed during his intervention that "the situation of Afghanistan militarily, geographically, and even at the level of doctrine is completely different from the situation of Iraq, which fought ISIS with its youth and capabilities and defeated all forms of terrorism," referring to the air and logistical support that accompanied the liberation operations, and the comparison is not valid because the facts and circumstances are completely different."
