Ministry of Health confirmed on Tuesday that the demand for vaccines has witnessed a qualitative leap, as indicated exceeded the peak of the third wave of Corona.
The ministry's spokesman, Saif Al-Badr, told the Iraqi News Agency (INA), that "the demand for vaccines witnessed a qualitative leap," explaining that "the ministry is working to exploit this demand and vaccinate the largest percentage of the Iraqi people, and it is continuing with the policy of increasing outlets and doubling the quantities of vaccine." .
He continued, "Receiving vaccines contributed to the prevention of many, and there are two million Iraqis who received the vaccine," explaining that "the approved vaccines in Iraq have scientifically proven to achieve effective immunity that exceeds 90%, and the rare cases of infection of the vaccinators were simple and did not require admission to the hospital."
And he indicated that "Iraq is still in the third wave, and we believe that we have passed the peak of the wave," stressing "the need to protect against new waves in the future, and this depends on the seriousness in applying preventive measures."
He pointed out that "there is no guarantee that there will be a fourth or fifth wave, or that there will be genetic mutations in the future that may be more dangerous, as we have witnessed recently," calling for "focusing on the basics of prevention, namely wearing a mask, physical distancing, and receiving vaccinations."
He concluded his speech by saying: "There is a difference regarding the percentage of positive cases of corona from the previous days," noting that "this is a good indication, and we hope to overcome the third wave."
