The Prime Minister, Mustafa Al-Kadhimi, expressed his condolences on the passing of Alia Al-Khafaji, the curator of Iraqi heritage.
Al-Kadhimi said in a tweet to him, which was followed by the Iraqi News Agency (INA): "We mourn the passing of the curator of the Iraqi heritage, the authentic Iraqi visual lady, Alia Al-Khafaji, who saved thousands of Iraqi books and manuscripts from looting and loss during the years of war and chaos.".
He added: "Iraq, the owner of the first library in the world, will rise by preserving its heritage and the authenticity of its cultural and human values."
