Baghdad International Airport – BIA administration clarified the circumstances of a technical malfunction that was thought to be a fire on a plane coming from Egypt.
"The administration of Baghdad International Airport would like to clarify to the public opinion and all media organizations about a fire in one of the planes coming from Cairo, Boeing 737-800 YI-AST, as the airport administration shows that we have been informed by the air control tower at 1515 o'clock, that there was a fire situation on the Iraqi plane coming from Cairo with the call lAW102 and then asked to implement the emergency plan,” BIA said in a statement received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA).
The emergency plan was implemented by Baghdad Airport operations “according to the plan prepared by the Civil Aviation Authority to face emergency matters and evacuation, and it was found that there was a technical problem and the appearance of one a sign on the plane (Emergency),”
The pilot believed that there was a fire, but it turned out that there was no fire inside the plane, all the approved procedures inside Baghdad International Airport were carried out according to the emergency plan. All passengers and crew are safe.
