Nine Syrian caught crossing the borders to Iraq, SMC reports

    The Security Media Cell announced on Sunday, that it had thwarted an attempt of 9 Syrians to cross borders into the Iraqi territory.
     
    A statement by SMC, received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA), stated that the Directorate of Military Intelligence at the Ministry of Defense identified via thermographic cameras on the Syrian side near the village of Al-Shaalan, which belongs to Rabia district, adjacent to the border with Syria, a group of nine attempting to cross Iraqi-Syrian borders.
     
    SMC added that "a force from the 2nd regiment in the 71st Infantry Brigade of the 15th Division, set an ambush and arrested them while they were crossing the border, and it turned out that they are a Syrian family of 9 members, noting that the arrestees were to the concerned authorities.
