The Turkish Consul in Mosul, Mehmet Koçuk Saqali, revealed on Saturday, that a delegation from the Turkish Ministry of Water Resources will visit Iraq soon, to discuss the water issue from Mosul Dam to Basra.
Saqali told the Iraqi News Agency (INA): since water file between Iraq and Turkey has significant importance , Turkish President Recep Tayyip
Erdogan, appointed a person specialized in this field, Professor Faysl Oglu.
He added that a large working group has been formed representing all specialists working in state departments, who are specialists in the field of water, noting that the goal behind forming this team is to solve the water crisis in Iraq, and use the water appropriately by both sides Turkey and Iraq.
He stressed that work is undergoing regarding this issue, as two weeks ago a delegation from the Iraqi Ministry of Water Resources visited Turkey, and conducted studies on the Tigris River there.
Saqali pointed out that there is a center that will be close to Baghdad, and its work will revolve around the mechanism of making good use of water by Turkey and Iraq.
He noted that the water during this year is very scarce in Iraq and Turkey because the lack of rain, stressing that Turkey has never cut off the water.
Regarding investment projects, the Turkish consul stressed that "Turkish companies have been present in Iraq since the past, adding that the work of Turkish companies depends on granting investment projects to them.
He pointed out that two large Turkish companies operating in Iraq are carrying out two projects in Mosul, one of which is the sewage plant project on the right side, which is working on treating of waste water, and the other is a project to collect rain water, purify it and return it to the Tigris River, in addition to other projects carried out by Turkish companies, including a hospital at Mosul University, and the new bridge on the Tigris River.
Regarding scientific cooperation between the two countries, the consul said: Turkey is currently working on the file of scientific cooperation, especially that the universities are high level and prestigious.
