The Security and Defense Committee in Parliament revealed on Thursday, the readiness of the three countries to equip the Iraqi government and the military system of air defense.
Committee member Bader Al-Ziyadi said in a statement to the Iraqi News Agency (INA), that "the military establishment and security forces need modern and advanced air defense systems," noting that "the Parliamentary Security and Defense Committee approached the Ministry of Defense and security leaders, as well as talking with the Minister of Defense needed." Iraq to have modern air defense systems in light of the presence of countries that have expressed their willingness to equip Iraq, namely France, Korea and China.
He added, "France informed Iraq that it is ready to provide it with an advanced air defense system, even if it is in the future," calling for "moving to obtain the appropriate air cover."
He pointed out that "Iraq has begun to develop the security of the border and oil areas, and there is a role for the Ministry of Oil to support the security services with sums of money to fill all the existing gaps," revealing that "there is a tendency to complete the border and oil areas with modern cameras and aircraft."
The Parliamentary Security and Defense Committee called, earlier, to increase financial support for the Iraqi air defense, while stressing the government's endeavor to provide Iraq with a modern air defense system.
