Ministry of Industry announced on Wednesday, 16 factories and production lines, including the Baghdad battery production project, were back in action while identifying the reasons for stopping iron and steel factories.
"The Ministry of Industry and Minerals has adopted a national project and an ambitious plan to rehabilitate and operate the 83 stalled factories," said the ministry's spokesman, Mortada Al-Safi, to Iraqi News Agency (INA).
He added, "These factories were stopped for reasons either due to their exposure to destruction or terrorism, the obsolescence of their lines and machines, or the lack of feasibility in operating due to the openness of the market and unfair competition with the importer," noting that "the ministry has developed short-term, medium-term and long-term plans according to the type and percentage of damage in those factories,”
