WHO: No evidence on Indian strain in Iraq

    World Health Organization has announced that the epidemiological situation of Corona virus in Iraq is still worrying, and while it has confirmed that the entry of the mutant Indian strain has not been proven so far, its noted at the same time that the end of the pandemic depends on the commitment of citizens and the increasing of  vaccination process.

    Dr Ahmed Zouiten, WHO Representative in Iraq, said in an exclusive interview with “Al-Sabah” newspaper , The Iraqi News Agency (INA) followed it up, today, Monday, that “the epidemiological situation of Corona in Iraq has gone through many stages, as the rates of infection and deaths cases in the first week of February of this year were worrying, after which record levels  jumped by more than 8000 case  per day in the months of April and May , according to laboratory tests conducted by the Iraqi Ministry of Health.
     
    Zouiten added, "The current epidemiological situation is now improving and more stable than the past few weeks, but despite its decline, we still see the impact of virus variants, low vaccine take up and Lack of commitment to social distancing, affirming that "the partial curfew adopted by the Ministry of Health and the Supreme Health and Safety Committee, especially during holy Ramadan, achieved its desired results and helped bring down the epidemiological curve.
