    Scientists of the Siberian Federal University were able to reduce the time required to detect air pollution with radioactive materials from three days to one hour only.

    The university media office indicates that, according to the experts, the proposed method does not need to make adjustments in the devices and equipment currently used in this field.

    Monitoring the level of radioactive aerosols and gases in the air is considered one of the main matters to ensure the safety of radiation installations. Because as a rule, such an aerosol is formed during the mechanical and chemical treatment of radioactive materials as well as in emergency situations in nuclear power plants.
    As is known, the inert gases - radon, thoron, actinion and their products are considered polonium nuclides, bismuth, lead, and thallium. These nuclides precipitate on suspended particles in the atmosphere or self-form aerosols with different densities.
