Al-Fayyad: PMA is not responsible for targeting diplomatic missions

    The head of the Popular Mobilization Authority, Faleh Al-Fayyad, confirmed today, Friday, that the organization is not responsible or supportive of targeting diplomatic missions in Iraq, while revealing that instructions have been issued by the Security Committee for Elections to secure the upcoming electoral process.

    Al-Fayadh said, to the Iraqi News Agency (INA), that "the Popular Mobilization Authority is an official body that follows the policy of the Iraqi government and is not responsible or supportive of any targeting of foreign embassies or representations in Iraq," affirming that the commission adheres to the government's policy in dealing with such problems.

    With regard to the strategic dialogue between Baghdad and Washington, Al-Fayyad stressed that "there is a special committee formed by the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, concerned with strategic dialogue, scheduling of withdrawal, and the rest of the joints of cooperation and dealing to resolve this entrenched crisis between the two countries."

    He pointed out that "the committee is also concerned with accompanying and implementing the House of Representatives decision to withdraw foreign forces in accordance with the vision of the Iraqi government and the armed forces for the interests of Iraq."

    Regarding the upcoming elections in the presence of uncontrolled weapons, the head of the Popular Mobilization Authority said, "The state is concerned with controlling security, enforcing law and providing the appropriate electoral environment, which is what the government is doing."

    He pointed to the issuance of a set of instructions from the Security Committee for Elections, and it will continue its work to reach elections with a large amount of security. "
