US withdraws from a large base in Kandahar

Pentagon officials said that the military has withdrawn from one of the largest military bases in southern Afghanistan .

Officials said the Kandahar airport was handed over to Afghan government forces earlier this week . 

And the Kandahar military base is one of the main bases that include American and international forces, and there were about 26,000 American and international military personnel there. In 2014, the Kandahar base became a training center in the southern region of Afghanistan .

Kandahar province is of historical importance, as a stronghold of the Taliban .
