The Media Office of the Presidency of the Republic said in a statement received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA), that "the President of the Republic, Barham Salih, received at the Baghdad Palace, the Minister of Water Resources, Mahdi Rashid, where they discussed developments in the water situation in the country and the decrease in the levels of the Tigris and Euphrates rivers, and Iraq's share of water."
According to the statement, the President of the Republic stressed the need to give the water file a top priority as one of the pillars of Iraqi national security, and the importance of communicating with neighboring countries to organize water relations on the principles of good neighborliness and taking into account the common interests of all, and not to harm Iraq, noting the efforts made by the government and the Ministry of Water Resources in This regard. "
For his part, Minister Mehdi Rashid gave a detailed presentation On the water situation in the country, and the plans put in place to meet the challenges facing the water file in the country, especially with the decline in rainwater for the current season, as well as the ongoing dialogues with neighboring countries regarding Iraq's water share.
