A statement issued by the Media Office of the Presidency of the Republic, which the Iraqi News Agency (INA) received a copy of, stated that "the President of the Republic, Barham Salih, received a cable of condolence from Syrian President Bashar al-Assad, for the tragedy of the Ibn al-Khatib Hospital fire in Baghdad, which killed dozens of citizens."
