MOP: Economic resources are not commensurate with the size of the population increase

    Minister of Planning Khaled Battal Al-Najm announced today, Thursday, an increase in the average life expectancy in Iraq, while noting that the economic resources are not commensurate with the size of the population increase .
    Battal said during his presidency of the first meeting of the National Committee for Population Policies in Iraq, which was formed according to Diwani Order 43 of 2021, and was followed by the Iraqi News Agency (INA), that "Iraq is witnessing large population increases, not commensurate with the volume of resources, especially with the expansion of the youth segment among the segments The population, which should be transformed into a lever and a driving force for development, and not a burden on economic resources.

    He stressed the need to "take into account the demographic problems resulting from the presence of ISIS terrorist gangs, especially with regard to the issue of the displaced," noting that "great work awaits the National Population Policy Committee, foremost of which is the preparation of the national document for population policies in Iraq and follow-up of its implementation, and support for the implementation of censuses." And population surveys to obtain accurate information and the latest data, in addition to studying proposals, programs and activities proposed by community organizations or specialized international agencies in order to support the implementation of the population policy and facilitate its implementation.
