Moscow expressed its strong protest to Ukraine after the latter had expelled a Russian diplomat from its territory,
and the Russian Foreign Ministry stated that "Kiev's accusations against the Russian diplomat are unfounded and."
They added, "Moscow reserves the possibility to expel a Ukrainian diplomat in response to Kiev's announcement that the Russian ambassador's advisor has a persona non grata."
Last Saturday, Ukraine decided to expel the advisor to the Russian ambassador in Kiev, in response to Moscow's announcement that the Ukrainian Consul General in Saint Petersburg was a persona non grata and accused him of receiving classified information.
