Prime Minister Mustafa Al-Kadhimi announced today, Sunday, that the Faw port project will provide great opportunities for Iraq and enhance its geopolitical position in the region, while noting that Iraq is facing a new phase where it overcomes crises and moves towards construction and reconstruction.
"Today we announce the start of an important strategic project that the people of the country have been waiting for for many years," Al-Kadhimi said in his speech during the foundation stone laying ceremony for the Grand Faw Port project, which was followed by the Iraqi News Agency. And the world, and it will create many job opportunities for the people of Basra and the rest of the provinces, and contribute to the development of the province. "
He added, "Many have gambled on the failure of the project and spread several rumors to frustrate the people, but the project is officially launched today after we completed the planning and negotiations stages and we financed the project from this year's budget," explaining that "the big FAW project is not only for Basra, but rather is a strategic project that contributes to Development and reconstruction of all Iraqi governorates, and making the country an economic bridge linking the various countries of the region.
