Baghdad - INA
the Ministry of Electricity announced today, Thursday, the Gulf linkage path and the time limit for the energy project with Jordan, while indicating the possibility of establishing an open energy market after the Jordanian connection.
Ministry spokesman Ahmed Musa told the Iraqi News Agency (INA), that "the Gulf liaison work related to the Iraqi side has been completed by 80%, and it is now up to the Gulf side," indicating that "meetings have been resumed with the Gulf side and the latter requested the establishment of headquarters inside Iraqi territories. And to give some authorizations. "
He added that "the government recommended the Ministry of Electricity to give official authorization to the Gulf Linkage Authority in order to complete the connection, which would be the lines' paths from inside the Kuwaiti territories and would be independent lines separate from the Kuwaiti electrical system, as the project would connect the two stations of Al-Faw and Al-Zour."
Concerning the Jordanian connection, Moussa stressed that "the idea was ripened by signing with the Jordanian side, and the discussion was also held at the level of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, as well as by a visit of the government delegation to Amman," noting that "the ministry signed a contract with Jordan and transferred the work to General Electric."
He indicated that "the time limit for this project in the first phase will be 26 months," stressing that "there is a survey currently underway for the lands because they contain war remnants, where the project will connect an existing reed line and the Qaim transforming station."
