Al-Ghazzi: The ancient city of Ur receives the government's attention

    Secretary-General of the Council of Ministers, Hamid Al-Ghazi, confirmed today, Tuesday, that the ancient city of Ur enjoys wide governmental interest, while indicating that it will be the destination of the world, religiously and as a tourist.
    Al-Ghazi said in a statement issued during his presidency of the first meeting of the Committee for the Development and Rehabilitation of the Archaeological City of Ur in the Dhi Qar Governorate, which was received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA): “The ancient city of Ur is receiving wide attention from the Iraqi government, as it has a historical and heritage stature that extends for thousands of years.” , Indicating that "preparations are underway to start the process of rehabilitation and development, to make it a destination for expatriates from all over the world, due to its attractive religious and tourism potentials."
    He added that "the committee will take it upon itself to set up plans to show the city in its proper form and its natural and symbolic status, with the solidarity of the relevant official authorities, through the crystallization of ideas, plans and preparation of statements to accomplish this important vital project," noting that "the committee during its first meeting will lay the first building block for the launch The project, which will be considered a gateway to Dhi Qar governorate and its economic recovery mainly, according to plans to be submitted by ministries and official institutions.
    Al-Ghazi expressed "the readiness of the General Secretariat of the Council of Ministers, to provide all facilities and support for the success of the project."
